In 2022-2023, I continued to work based on my friends’ bodies.
Out of respect for them, I tried to bear witness, through careful rendering, to the blows they had received and the emotions they had felt, as preserved in their bodies and skin.
Their bodies are tense and rigid, without rest, their expressions severe, their hopes tinged with anxiety.
The bruises are both a symbol and a symptom of suffering, blows, and fears.
The physical or subtle suffering is very real.
I took the time to seek out every nuance, with a discreet, calm drawing style, without virtuosity or passion. With this work, I want to thank my friends for their trust, not to use it to create seductive drawings.
